1. What Quotedle is
Quotedle is a free, browser-based daily word puzzle. It is provided as-is for personal, non-commercial use. We do not charge for access.
2. Permitted use
You may play the puzzle, share your result grids, link to pages on the site, and quote short excerpts of our original articles with attribution. You may not:
- Scrape or bulk-download the quote database or any other site content.
- Republish site content in a way that competes with Quotedle.
- Attempt to bypass rate limits or security controls.
- Use automated tools to submit guesses or manipulate streaks.
- Interfere with the site or with other users’ ability to play.
3. Intellectual property
The site design, original essays (including the strategy guide and the information-theory essay), curation notes, and code are owned by Liam Collins unless stated otherwise. The quotes themselves are the work of their respective authors and are used under fair use for the purpose of commentary, education, and cultural participation.
If you are a rights holder and believe a quote on Quotedle has been used inappropriately, please contact [email protected] and we will review it promptly.
4. No warranty
The site is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the site will be available at any particular time, that puzzles will load correctly in every browser, or that quote sourcing is flawless. We do our best, but we are not infallible and we are a one-person operation.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including but not limited to lost streaks, frustration at a hard puzzle, or arguments with friends about who got to the answer first.
6. Third-party services
The site uses Google AdSense for advertising and Cloudflare for hosting. Your interaction with those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. See our privacy policy for more on what those services do and how to opt out.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site evolves. Changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes counts as acceptance of the new terms.
